Entailment-based Axiom Pinpointing in Debugging Incoherent Terminologies

چکیده
One of the major problems of axiom pinpointing for incoherent terminologies is the precise positioning within the conflict axioms. In this paper we present a formal notion for the entailment-based axiom pinpointing of incoherent terminologies, where the parts of an axiom is defined by atomic entailment. Based on these concepts, we prove the one-to-many relationship between existing axiom pinpointing with the entailment-based axiom pinpointing. For its core task, calculating minimal unsatisfiable entailment, we provide algorithms for OWL DL terminologies using incremental strategy and Hitting Set Tree algorithm. The feasibility of our method is shown by case study and experiment

Efficient MUS Enumeration of Horn Formulae with Applications to Axiom Pinpointing
The enumeration of minimal unsatisfiable subsets (MUSes) finds a growing number of practical applications, that includes a wide range of diagnosis problems. As a concrete example, the problem of axiom pinpointing in the EL family of description logics (DLs) can be modeled as the enumeration of the group-MUSes of Horn formulae. In turn, axiom pinpointing for the EL family of DLs finds important ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Pinpointing Algorithms for the Description Logic ALC
Most commonly used Description Logic reasoning systems provide only limited support for debugging logically inconsistent knowledge bases. Attempts have been made to come up with algorithms that solve the debugging problem by suggesting possible resolutions. These algorithms use the method of pinpointing of the axioms in the knowledge bases that are the possible source of inconsistency. In this ...
متن کاملAxiom Pinpointing Using an Assumption-Based Truth Maintenance System
The problem of axiom pinpointing [1, 22], that is, finding the minimal set of axioms responsible for an unwanted consequence, is an important problem in ontology debugging. One approach to identifying the axioms responsible for an unwanted consequence is to trace dependencies between inferences leading to the consequence. Several authors have proposed truth maintenance systems as a means of kee...
متن کاملNon-standard Inference for Explaining Subsumption in the Description Logic El with General Concept Inclusions and Complex Role Inclusions
Ontologies [11] are now ubiquitous and many of them are currently being ported into logical formalisms, most notably description logic (DL) [2]. It is inevitable that such migration might introduces inconsistencies – both in terms of logically and ontologically – which could be far from obvious. This motivates the recent research topic of explanation of DLbased ontologies. Explanation comes in ...
متن کاملPinpointing in the Description Logic EL
For a developer or user of a DL-based ontology, it is often quite hard to understand why a certain consequence holds, and even harder to decide how to change the ontology in case the consequence is unwanted. For example, in the current version of the medical ontology SNOMED [16], the concept Amputationof-Finger is classified as a subconcept ofAmputation-of-Arm. Finding the axioms that are respo...
